Delivery Status Notification compliance

We are wanting to receive emails from a service that is requiring that we are Deliiver Status Notification compliant, which according to them is:

Confirmation via Delivery Service Notification (DSN)
The first thing you should do is determine whether your email account is Delivery Status Notification (DSN) compliant. If you use an email provider that is DSN compliant it will automatically return an electronic email confirmation to the BNC that the email sent by the BNC was delivered to your mailbox.

As I we have our own Exchange 2003 server, I've look and not sure what needs to change to allow this?

Anyone have any ideas?

Exchange 2003 is Delivery Status Notification compliant.
Some email providers use older Email Software which might
not be compliant.

You should not have to make any changes to your system.

I agreee with BamBamHR. By default delivery reports are allowed but you should check this has not been changed

I checked those settings and they are there, but we I was thinking that since we have all of our email first going through a third party spam/virus filter, and then getting relayed to our email server, would that cause those status reports to not get sent to the correct place?

Yes, absolutely..

If you are using a 3rd party SPAM proxy, and then it relays to your mail server, that could definetly effect how the DSN works. You should check with your ANTI-SPAM provider to make sure they are DSN compliant as well..

It sounds like BNC is sending emails that use automatic DSN confirmation . Make sure your ANTI-SPAM provider is either replying to them, or at least passing on the confirmation requests.
