both ica and rdp client hangs after you exit program started from the rdp or ica client

After I exit a program started by my citrix ica connection or a rdp session with the program to start configured in either client, I just get a blue screen  (not the BSOD) just a blue screen, meaning the RDP or ICA client is still running - it doesn't seem to "get it" that it's work is finished and it should exit now.

windows server 2003 | metaframe presentation server 4 |  ica client 6.31.1051  | xp rdp client

thanks,

Firstly, is it possible for you to upgrade the client version to v9.230?

Secondly, see the following article:
http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX111187
In this article, it states the following:

Logon/Authentication
On occasion, while users are in the process of logging on, their sessions become unresponsive, displaying a blue screen background only. While existing sessions are not affected, no additional sessions can be launched until the server is restarted. This occurs when there is a transient connection failure during the logon process that results in a call time-out.

Other things to check:
This might indicate printer issues. Try stopping the print spooler on the Citrix server. Then try to login from one of the desktops. Do they work properly? If so, you have some rogue printer drivers.

Check that the "TCP/IP Netbios Helper" and "Computer Browser" Services are both enabled and running.

Hope this helps.

They are not hanging.  They are waiting for 55 seconds then disconnecting.  I think I have to set some disconnect setting.

I would say that if you just get a blue screen and the client session does not close properly, this is classed as a non responsive session as it is attempting to complete processes which have become unresponsive.

It would be better and cleaner if you resolve the cause of this rather than just setting the disconnect setting to a lower value.

You may want to check your event logs to see if you have any printer errors.

no printer errors
disabled print spooler - same issue
checked other two services and they are running.
