Sharp Copier/Scanner/Fax MX-M450N can authenticate to SMTP server, but can't send email with attached PDF
Hello,
I am having an issue with Scan to Email functionality on the Sharp MX-M450N copier/scanner/fax. I can authenticate to the SMTP server when I run the test from the machine. However, whenever I try to email myself a scanned document, the machine comes back and can't send the message. THe machine supports both old-school smtp and the new type with secure smtp.
So here's what i've done to try and solve the issue:
1. Set up the same email account on a local laptop with outlook. I was able to send an attachment just fine using the email address, password, and smtp settings that failed on the machine.
2. telnet (public IP of SMTP server) 25 - this came back ok too
I did upgrade the firewall to an ASA 5505 within the past week. Could this be the source of the problem?
Thanks.

DrWatson79, what was the solution?
Why was there an accepted solution when it clearly didn't solve your problem?
I know on my exchange 2003 server we have allowed only specific IP's to send mail to the SMTP connector. You may need to allow the IP address the ability to send email to that connector. In exchange you can check the SMTP Protocol in the Exchange System Maanger, properties, access, connections, and add the IP address to the computers list.

Here's the correct Solution: We downloaded the latest firmware from Sharp's website and fe-flashed the machine. This solved the issue.
