How to manage SQL Server 2005 Express remotely??

We currently have our own webserver as it hosts all our database driven websites and the database is sql - our problem is we constantly have to RDP into the webserver and detach and attach databases to and from it - i was wondering if there was an easier way to manage this other than RDP

all reasonable suggestions would be a great help guys!

Thanks

No sorry i havent - we are only using RDP into the webserver and then opening sql server and attaching the database and it can be quite time consuming as RDP is quite slow

Can you create a share that the server can access?
You may be able to use SQLCMD from the local command line to access the server and process the attach/detach.
Use the following to test, it should return the name of the server:

sqlcmd -S <server> -E -Q "select @@servername;"

As an aside detach/attaching detabases is not typically a daily task. can you not use replication or some other method of data transfer?

are the files which you are attaching on the webserver or they are at remote location?

my knowledge of SQL Server is very basic - basically i was looking a web based system that will allow me to manage the server instead of having to RDP each time i have to change or add a field or even attach/detach a database

there is no browser based admin console for SQL although the Management Studio program can work with remote systems. If you have the right network connectivity to the remote system install the client tools locally on your system and connect through to the server.

What is the right network connectivity??
i have the management studio installed on my desktop which connects to the SQL instance on my local server but i want to be able to connect to the instance on our webserver

Do you have direct tcp access?
Can you ping the remote server and get a response?
In the SSMS click the Conect button on the Object Explorer. This will allow you to specify the credentials of the remote system. If the network connectivity is correct it should only take a few seconds to see the details of the remote server.
