Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 won't save files/freezes

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Illustrator CS3 (legitimate, licensed copies) installed on a Winows XP machine. All of a sudden, neither program will save a file - when you click save, the save dialog box flashes into and out of existence within about 1/2 second and the program freezes - have to end it with Task Manager.  At one point, I thought it might be something screwy with the licensing as it's been exactly 90 days since it was installed, but if it weren't licensed I think it would stop after 30 days, not 90.

They also wouldn't let you open the programs, you'd get the initial screen that said your 30 day trial was up and ask for a key.  If you go to the help menu in either app is the "Activate" option grayed out?  It should be.  Are you having trouble saving from any other applications?

Actually, there's no Activate.  In help, there is About Photoshop, About plug-in, Patent & Legal Notices, Registration, Updates,System Info, and Photoshop Online.  Grayed out are Download e-License and Return e-License.

Ok did you deleted/uninstaller anything from adobe folder or even its sharing files ?

Do something if you have original software , remove and re install both. Then let us know if its working or not.

If not then there might be some other problem either with windows or hardware.

I was having the same problem with Photoshop.  I reinstalled Photoshop only and it still didn't work.  After I clicked File > Save As and photoshop froze, I hit the Esc key and it unfreezed the program.  Next, I tried the keyboard commands for Save As (shift-ctrl-S).  That opened up the Save As window and I haven't had issues since.  Kind of back a$$ward, but it works and my designer is happy.  Hope this helps.

OK, after much gnashing of teeth, susiebecky's solution works this way.
Open Photoshop
attempt open from file menu. The open dialogue flashes on screen and photoshop "locks uP'/freezes
Hit esc key
click file open again
this time it should work
