SQL IMAIL

I have installed SQL 2005 standard for a DB server. I wanted to configure sqlimal, but it is not in the management console. I have installed all components and still no imail. I installed sql 2005 enterprise on another server thinking it might be the version, but sqlimail is not there either. Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?

The option to configure mail is available in Management ---->Database Mail---right click this option and you should be able to configure SQL Mail.

Please let me know if this helps.

SQL mail and SQLimail are different. Maybe I am wrong, but there should be 2 options, Database mail and sqlimail.

nstalling and configuring SQLiMail
You can use the SQLiMail Configuration Wizard to install and configure SQLiMail in a database. You can initiate the wizard from the SQLiMail entry in the Management folder in Object Explorer. The wizard collects information, including the database to install to and user information to create a SQLiMail profile.

Using SQLiMail
After you have configured a mail profile, you can call the sendimail_sp stored procedure to send mail from SQL Server. The following example shows how to send SQLiMail using a profile named SQLServer.

DECLARE @QueryResult int
SET @QueryResult = (SELECT Count(*) FROM Person.Contact)

EXECUTE sendimail_sp
 @profile_name='SQLServer',
 @recipients='administrator@adventure-works.com',
 @subject='Test',
 @body=@QueryResult

Please let me know if this helps
