Feb '07 - migrated from Windows 2000 PDC to Windows 2003 x64 PDC....no errors, all running fine.
Sep '07 - switched from DSL to cable modem service......no errors, all running fine.
Yesterday morning, attempted to add new computer to Domain and DNS error occured......spent all day yesterday and today following previous solution posts to address issues.

All other computers, users remain with access to network resources and internet.  New computer is only able to access internet, but can not access network resources as unable to make it join computer domain.

Data is as follows:

Error msg:
The domain name RAGDALEII might be a NetBIOS domain name.  If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.

If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain RAGDALEII:

The error was: "This operation returned because the timeout period expired."
(error code 0x000005B4 ERROR_TIMEOUT)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.RAGDALEII

The DNS servers used by this computer for name resolution are not responding. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses:

10.1.10.3

Verify that this computer is connected to the network, that these are the correct DNS server IP addresses, and that at least one of the DNS servers is running.

dcdiag return:

nslookup return:
*********Cannot find server name for address 10.1.10.3: non-existant domain

Default Server:  UnKnown
Address:  10.1.10.3

I've re-registered via ipconfig /registerdns and netlogon restarts fine.
I need a fresh perspective to look at this.

A little sleep does wonders....

Perhaps this wasn't the best approach, but my deadline is only hours away:

I removed DNS services entirely, after manually deleting all zones;
I deleted the user from AD;
I reinstalled DNS Server and re-configured DNS Server as needed;
Re-attempted to add computer and user to Domain and all worked fine.
However, I'm still interested in knowing what the heck happened.  If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it.
