My User account is gone in Windows XP SP2 - Very Very Urgent

This morning when I started my machine, I was shocked to see that it was not the same machine. I could not see my Administrator User account in my machine while I log in and I logged into my mchine through an account that I never used to log in. Now the desktop is not the same, the programs that run on startup are not the same, my working environment is not the same and even my Email client needs to be configured and I cant see my previous mails. Please help me understand what went wrong and how can I rectify it.

Try to access user accounts in control panel, see if its still there.

if you have access to any account that has admin privileges, you by rights, have access to the entire file system. Look for it under c:\documents and settings\

You mention that you can log in after restarting the computer..How do you log in? Is there a log in box listed and if so, you should be able to type in the word "administrator", then the password, if any, then press the "Enter" key. If there is no password for the two adminstrator accounts, then simply press the "Enter" key after typing your user name.

To verify which user accounts are still viable and what names they use, click on Start-Run, type: CONTROL userpasswords, then click on OK. The current users will be listed and if you can gain access as a user with admin rights, you can change all permissions from that location.
