HOW TO restore VISTA MBR after a corrupted UBUNTU installation ??

OK ! Experts ,i installed ubuntu on my friends laptop with a single hdd partitioned into 3 drives ,the installation worked fine for some reason i tried to reinstall ubuntu again but in the middle of the installation something happened and i restarted the computer ,now i get a screen saying grub error 15 ,and when i boot from a live cd i open gparted i can only see one big partition and the rest are gone ,the good news is that when i insert the vista cd ,it can see the windows partitions ,but cannot boot any of the 2 os ,now the question is how to restore the vista mbr ,i used to use fixmbr under winxp ,but this is not working in vista ,i hope i explained my problem and kindly feedback if any one out there knows how to restore the VISTA mbr ..

Aparently you can boot from the vista DVD and use the rapair tools on the first page to repair the MBR

i did that Michael ,i restored the Vista installation to the most recent backup point ,but still getting the same error, grub error 15 ,it seems vista restore do not fix the MBR .

i did as exactly described in the microsoft support page ,all the steps return successful output ,but still when i restart i get :
GRUB loading ,please wait

ok sorry for all the troubles i caused ,i found it on ubuntu forums
shuv in the vista cd ,choose repair windows ,choose  command prompt window ,dir to the cd/dvd drive and type :
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /fixmbr
