I have a Dell box has win2k3 with SP1 installed,New virtual disk is assigned to this server, virtual disk is created as part of SAN EMC AX100,disk is initiated using the default wizard, however when attempt to create partitions or volumes, I get an unexpected error format of ID 7034,drive letter ,label and file system does not show in the upper pan.
PowerPath Administrator and Navispher Server Utilities are installed.

BIOS is updated, windows is up to date except for SP2,Exchange 2003 with SP2,symantec and diskeeper is installed on this box,HPA driver is updated, same virtial disk that could not be recognaized by this server works fine if assigned to a different server.

no error messages in the event viewer except event id 7034 and event id 1 : Unexpected failure. Error code: 2@0200001D

Any one has faced similar situation?

Do you have another HBA card to test with?

Actually,I do not, here is what happens exactly which makes us goes nuts:
Same HPA had been working before upgrade process which invloves increasing number of physical disks by adding 500GB 4 disks, existed disks were 4 x 160GB in the same first created Pool, now we have read that to make use of the newly created Hot spare disks,Pools must be recreated,so old pool have been deleted and the new Pools have been created with Hot Spare disk in the second sets of disks (4x500GB)
Now when attempting to reassign virtual disks to this specific server,it does not recognaize it with the mentioned above error.
Hope this will clarify that HPA does not seem to be the problem,I think proble had to do with something on the Box (software/hardware).

    Accepted Solution

I could finally isolate that problem with server we will plan a new clean install when possible. As no one added any possible solution I will request closing on this question.
