The problem is i can log on to my server but i runs very slow and the desktop icons are gone?

I have a windows 2000 server. The problem is i can log on to my server but i runs very slow and the desktop icons are gone? I am afraid it is infected! Is there a way to clean and tune up the server

Hi
First you can look on task manager to see if there are any suspected running programs. Second run autoruns from sysinternals to inspect startup config. Then install and check with an antivirus software.
