Can not navigate to secure web page on terminal server.

Termial server user trying to access a secure web site for credit checking.  When they type in the address a "Client Authentication" dialog appears asking for Identification.  The message says: "The Web site you want to view requests identification.  Select the certificate to use when connecting."  Below that is a box that should be populated with certificates, but it is blank.  Clicking OK then give a "Page requires client certificate."

Machine is W2k SP4 using IE6.

I've tried on my XP desktop and am able to access the site, tried on another W2k server and it goes right in.  I've attempted importing certificates from working machines and nothing.

Help? Other secure sites work.

That looks like the issue, but can't find a number for India, er, support.  Is there a general support number or hotfix number?

I did get a hold of support and recieved the hotfix.  I installed it on Friday but it did not correct the issue.  I downloaded and installed all available patches and updates, but have not rebooted the server yet.  The updates were taking a long time on Friday and I forgot about them over the weekend to do the reboot.  I will try and schedule a reboot today to try or do it tonight after hours.

(The India comment was a tounge-in-cheek comment. :)  )

I guess over the weekend I forgot what step I was on... I have not installed the hotfix yet.  When I attempted to I recieved a message "This update requires Internet Explorer Service Pack 1.0 to be installed".  Thinking something was missing I ran MS Update on Friday and forgot to reboot over the weekend.

Anyway once I did reboot I still recieve the message when trying to install the hotfix.  Checking the "Help-About" info it says "Version 6.0.2800.1106" and "Update Versions:;SP1; Q833989; ..."

Am I missing something here?

That usually happens when the MS updates have been applied in an unusual order.

You could try creating a restore point, then removing the IE updates through add/remove programs, then go to the MS updates site, and update again.

Hope that helps

Reinstalling the updates will probalby solve the problem, but I plan to replace the server this year anyway so I am not going to go through the trouble.  We have done the task on a different computer so this issue is moot now.

Thanks for the suggestions!!
