VOB Playback Needs Timestamp

I have a .vob file on DVD from a Sony camcorder that I need to have a timestamp on the video playback on a desktop computer.  I would think this can be done as a subtitle but I do not know how.  I would prefer to get this accomplished using freeware as this is a one-time need.

Hi to add a text or subtitle marker  you may have edit the entire movie.
What programs do you have?

Virtual dub vobsub is the main I use.
here's how as a starter

One final idea I havent tried this as yet with Super video converter but your suggestion has inspired me to try, Super is a great video convert tool and has many uses once you have added the time line you could convert it
Hope it helps you

A colleague recommended that I try Nero Showtime.  It did what I needed.  Thanks for the help.
