Harddisk Error

Hi: I try to install windows XP in a new HP Pavilion computer. I dont have a computer right now as i am at home. At work the whole day I try to install windows XP on that machine. First i delete the partition and then create a new partition and then during installation XP gives me an error on harddisk on some address. Message is some thing like that "There is an error in your hard disk on address ...... please use chkdsk to check the viruses or any other problem in the harddisk" I try three times to install XP but it wont install. Then i try to install windows 2000 PRO it also gives me same error. Then i use the dos botable disk and create a new partition on harddisk and then format the harddisk. It format the harddisk without any error. Dont know why the windows are not going to install on the hard disk needs help.

3 Solutions
HP computers has a built in disk surface test on BIOS.
Start computer and press F2 (or F10) at POST start in order to enter the bios.
Search for a menu of HD Diagnose.
If this test gets some ERROR, then HP will replace your disk for free.
Check the hard drive make / model and go manufacturing website, download utility to test the drive to make sure it is free of error. Then format it and try install again.
Kindly try replacing the Hard Drive cables.
1) in some cases if you have issues with SATA cable it will format via DOS but cannot install any OS.
2)in case of IDE cables you will have to use the advanced IDE cable
