Send people to one site and have that distribute evenly across multiple websites
I have a client that wants to establish an advertising co-op. The want to direct prospects to a website url. then when people go to that webiste have that traffic evenly distributed acrosss multiple websites in round robin fashion.
is there a way this can be done

No, you cannot guarantee perfectly even distribution of traffic with round-robin DNS, but you can with an accelerator.
svs is correct, you cannot guarantee 100% uniform distribution DNS round robin. However the difference between hosts would not be huge and would decrease as traffic increases.
Reverse proxy load balancers, as suggested by svs, are definitely a more advanced and flexible solution allowing you more configuration freedom to achieve what you want. DNS round robin is more of a quick and simple solution, however it works suprisingly well for certain scenarios. Two major advantages of round robin is that it does not require any additional hardware or software and it does not create a single point of failurte.
