Black RDP screen

when useing remote desktop to log into xp pro workstation at work from a xp pro laptop at home orany where i get a black screen. It worked a couple of weeks ago and now does not. If i go to another computer and put the same setting in RDP it works fine.

If you RDP into this machine from another system, it works though?

Have you tried another User account to authenticate to?

And plrease clarify... The common problem here is remoting INTO a single machine, or remoting FROM a particular system?

No it is not a VPN. Yes i have tried another account that did not work.

Have you tried a different User profile.

Have you done a thorough check for malware or processes that may interfere ?

What about firewall issues ?

What has changed ?

I am trying to remote into a single pc. I have tried from multiple pc some it works from some it does not.

Whats the HW on the LAN like, hubs switches etc? Maybe some are connecting form a slower link?

Have you tried going under the Experience tab, and disabling everything to see if it helps ?

A few things to try:

1. Lower maximum resolution to 1024x768 or compare settings from one that works
2. Set RDP Client colors to 16bit
3. Turn off Bitmap Caching from the Experience Tab of the RDP Client

the Solution was to replace the router. I replaced the router and configured the settings to what they were. thanks for the input though.
