PDB files

Good Friday to you.
I have a question about PDB files in 2003.

When backing up my projects directory (contains lots of projects) by copying to a new directory, Windows does not seem to be copying the PDB files and returns an error during copy that says a pdb filename is too long.

So my question is, do I need the PDB files or will VS just rebuild should I ever need to open a project from my backup directory?

    Accepted Solution

    1) PDB files are generated when the project is built

    2) If you restore a previously backed up project, then you can rebuild the project/solution, and the PDB files will be regenerated also.
