force user input in date format

I'm using vb.net 05 I have a combobox called cbItem  and I need to force the user to input a date in short format (i.e. 12/27/2007)  How can i do this programatically?

Why don't you use DateTimePicker ?

I did end up using a datetimepicker, but both solutions were valid.  Thanks guys.
