Lose internet connection in Firefox

Ok, this is frustrating! I recently put a wireless card in my computer to connect to my home network with a WEP key. It worked fine and I was surfing in no time. However, the connection is now sporadic. I have various log ons for myself, my wife and my kids. I am the administrator. When I log on, I am able to use FIrefox to surf. But, when I sign on my daughter's account, I am not able to surf the net through Firefox.I remain connected to the wireless connection.

Is there a setting in Firefox that needs to be changed to give me a stable internet connection on all accounts?

Hi Brent,

You are having trouble with your network configuration, it's not related to firefox. Actually the problem is the account change. On a wireless connection, the connection is account based, so when you connect to a wireless network in your account, it will hold the network key (wep, wpa etc) in your account, and you'll have to register the key on each new account. This way no account owners will be able to have recorded network keys for the registered wireless networks and every account holds it's own passwords. So you should just re-register to the wireless network on that account.

Hope this solves it =)

To test your network connection eliminating browsers, servers and http connections, you can;

go to start menu > run > type "cmd" without the quotes

type "ping www.altavista.com" in the command prompt without the quotes.

if you can get a reply, then you got a network connection to the internet.

if you can't, chances are;
- there is a network configuration error,
- you are using a proxy server to access to the internet,
- the server you're trying (www.altavista.com in this case) doesn't reply to ping requests.
- there is a firewall in front of your machine, blocking ping requests (unlikely)

but it works on your account right? have you also registered to the wireless network with the password on that second account?

On my account the mouse and keyboard freezes up after about 30 seconds of being signed on. This also occurs on another non-admin account.

I ran winsockxpfix and now when I run ipconfig from the cmd prompt I get an IP, subnet and default gateway but am still unable to connect through Firefox or Explorer

So, I log out of the non-admin account and log into the administrator and then go to the cmd prompt and type ipconfig and get that error AND I got the error:

ANIWZCS2 Service Launcher encountered a problem and needed to close.

Ughhh.

FYI - I type ping www.altavista.com and get a reply with no lost packets. This is in the admin account.
