Google Search Appliance appears to display extremly much more estimated number of hits, than there is - for example GSA reports 32900 results, but when I browse through results, there are few hundreds.

How to deal with GSA very wrong estimation of number of hits?

the estimated no. includes duplicate results and sub results that are displayed as one when u browse pages.
you can estimate it by changing the start in address bar link after pressing next.

This issue cannot be fixed by yourself. This is GSA bug known as "ID #645507 - Search results can be truncated to [50] results for a query". So, only solution is to write an email to gsa support and ask them to log on server and patch it.
