Formatting HD on TC1000 HD + recovery
Hi:
I have a TC1000 tablet pc that I want to fix. I have the recovery CD's and it works. However, the only thing it did is fixxing the currpted files, and did not even formate the HD.
I tryed to format the HD from Dos using (fomat c:), but it gives me "Bad command".
Please help me formatting the HD before rerunning the recovery process again.

down load Knoppix iso from www.knoppix.org burn knoppix iso to cd then boot from knoppix cd it takes a little while.
once up you may need to right click the drive usually named hda** andchange properties to be able to write to the disks then somewhere there is an option to format the disk . if not just delete everything. whcih will mean that you get a clean install on your drive..
Other wise get a windows CD any will do and jus boot from the disk when it gives the option to install windows on a drive you can delete the existing partition and refprmat disk.

Perhaps an easier soloution is to use eraser this will wipe the hard drive and instructions are here http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/quickstart.php
it creates a boot disk that will allow you to kill the disk.
Instructions for doing it via XP cd are here http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/format_XP.htm it also has links to doing it with 98 cd as well.
