SBS Remote desktop not listening 3389

sbs 2003 not listening on port 3388.
Simple as that, I use netstat -ano | find ":3389"  and nothing checked in registry at Hqlm/system/currentconrolset/control/terminalserver/winstation/rdp-tcp /port number  to verify its port 3389 and yes it is, I can even verify my RDP connection is being logged in modem and forwarded to the computer. but still gets refused  on remote end. Firewall is Off. I have symantec antivirus corp installed. how can i reset the terminal service completely?
its also on in system properties and administrator access, port forward is enabled.

Lets get the obvious out of the way - have you enabled remote desktop on the Remote Tab in Computer Properties?

First, do you have a single NIC or two NICs?

Have you run the Configure Email and Internet Connection Wizard (CEICW) to enable Remote Desktop?

How about posting a COMPLETE ipconfig /all from the SBS so we can take a look at where you're starting from?

When running the CEICW, I'm assuming that you are selecting "A Local Router device with an IP Address" as your connection type?  You can try selecting "A direct broadband connection" instead which will help to reset the settings.

One other way to get things properly reset is to run the Change Server IP Address Wizard, but of course, selecting the current IP address of 192.168.0.100 as the IP.

If for some reason you have left the DHCP service enabled on your router, I'd strongly suggest that you disable it and allow SBS to handle DHCP.  See http://sbsurl.com/dhcp (bottom of article) for instructions on how to do that.

I have not been able to correct this issue as yet. The computer is still not listening on port 3389. could symantec Antivirus corporate have any issue here.

Something is running on 3389 then.

Please run "netstat -an" and see what's listed for 3389.

netstat -ano | find ":3389"  returns nothing, the computer is simply not listening on that port.

Sorry... sometimes I forget to go back up and re-read your initial question.

Is Terminal Services Running as a Service?  (Set to manual, but unable to modify it anyhow)

Can you also review all SBS Default Services to be sure they are set correctly?

FYI, on EE the only thing a bump will do is notify those who have already participated... which in this case is me, and that's good that you did because I somehow missed your last post.

Anyhow... I have an idea for you.

1. Copy the "termdd.sys" file from the Service Pack 2 cab folder located in "C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386" to "C:\Windows\system32\drivers".

2. Ensure Terminal Services Service is running. If not, start it manually.

3. Reboot.

Well I feel slightly better that Im not on my own here, do You have Symantec corporate antivirus, I was wondering if that could be the issue, also its a dell system but I doubt that has any relevance.

I found a solution!!! I went into Terminal Services configuration and configured the RDP protocol to only listen on the inside (trusted) interface. Let me know how it went!

Did you select it or did you choose all network card? I know you only have one but do yourself a favour and select it only anyway.

I had this problem and the solution turned out to be that someone had changed the listening port.  It can be done by following these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306759
