The right click menu. What is it called and how do I acces it?

I have a neat little program that will give you the type of video and audio format of a particular movie  or avi file. I usually access it by choosing a file and right clicking it. The program starts and I get my answer. Now for some reason when i right click a video file the program won't start but rather gives me the "open with" window so I can choose a program. This is not what I want but rather when I right click the line that says "Browse with AVIcodec" that the AVI codec program should start. the program does start and works if I start it up and drag the file into it. Ok so my question is: what is the right click mouse menu called and where can I find the information so I can modify to have "Browse with AVI codec" start up the proper program? i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and the program itself works fine. It is just when I right click the menu command to associate with the file does the error occur.

If i understand your question correctly, it is called the 'Context Menu'.

This google search should give you the selection of further questions >

PawloA,
Please take care if you've not used Registry Edit before, in fact you may like to hold off on this particular move for a while .. am investigating this article further .. thanks..
This article (above) seems fine >>>

"How to Modify the Right-Click Menu":
http://www.tucows.com/soltns_detail.html?article_id=1187
Its seems as if this is a two part question but I think the answer you are looking for is "File type" association in the "AVIcodec" program. Open the program and find the preferences/properties area in the file menu at the top. Choose the file types you wish to associate with this program and save your changes. This should correct your problem. You cna also ensure that Windows recognizes the change by going to a file and right-clicking over that AVI and see if its a choice in the "Context Window", if its not you can choose the "Open with" option and you choose your AVIcodec program, after selecting it there will be a little checkbox below that says: Always use the selected program to run this kind of file....You can check that box so Windows understands that you want to use your program to open that file.
I dont think there is ANY need to change the registry !!
it is called context menu and there is a number of programs that can modify its content and they are called context menu editors
Forced accept.
