Planning uninstall of Symantec AV small business and install corporate edition
I'm currently running Symantec Antivirus 10.0.1000 Small Business Edition which requires upload current .SLF files every 1 or 2 yrs. Apparently there was a little mixup with the reseller where Corporate Edition which never has this license requirment should have been installed.
Long story short to clean this mess up, I need to uninstall Small Business Ed from 5 Win2K3 servers and 15 WinXP pcs. What is the proper order in staging the uninstalls & reinstalls? Here's my current plan:
1. Uninstall SSC on parent AV server, reboot
2. Install SSC for Corp ED, reboot
3. Uninstall AV clients from the other servers one at a time, reboot, followed by push of Corp Ed client via push from SSC.
4. Repeat previous step for the pcs.
I'm trying to minimize overall downtime, risk exposure after uninstalls. Do you see any gotchas here? Improvements?
