AJAX toolkit recommendation

I'm creating an AJAX site consisting mainly of a discussion forum;
what is a simple and good looking AJAX toolkit to use?
doesn't need lots of widget types,
but what it does have must be very simple to use.

    How about something like MooTools?

    Check out their demos, amazing what you can do with Javascript!
