No internet after standby mode on laptop - restart needed.

I have a problem with my laptop.
When I start it, I have internet access.
But when I set it in stand by mode, or in sleep mode, and it stays there 15 - 30 minutes, or more, and when I run it again, my internet connection is lost.

I have to restart my laptop to make it work.

I don't use wireles connection.

It is only with my laptop, mu PC's work fine :)
I have win XP media center edition ...

what could it be?

Please see if there are any power management settings in place for your Network Card.

1. Double click network icon > Properties OR My Network Places > View Network Connections > (right click on connection icon) Properties

2. In the window that opens up, your network card will be listed. Next to it's name > click properties

3. click Power Management tab

4. untick any selected items.

Thank you for your quick answer
I did what you said, and there was indeed a checkbox ...
I removed it and wil wait now to see what happens.

Please be patient, because it doesn't happen always.
Sometimes I don't loose the connection, but in most cases I do.
