Hello. I have a concern. Don't know why, but this doesn't make any sense to me!!! My Windows Vista Performance Index score on my graphics component has dropped!!!!! From a 4.3 to a 3.3!!!!!! This is AFTER, YES AFTER I installed the latest driver (from a download from the Sapphire website) for my  Sapphire ATI Radeon X1650 PRO video card a few days ago. Windows Vista Performance Index detected a change in hardware when I went there. I clicked to update to HOPEFULLY SEE A "HIGHER" SCORE!!!! From what I can recall, the other scores seem about the same for other components. Gaming graphics component is a 4.3, about the same I believe. Right along I have had no drivers installed for this video PCIe card, using the Microsoft Vista default video drivers, I would presume. I THOUGHT SURELY THE SCORE WOULD OF GONE UP A LITTLE!!!! NOT DROP SIGNIFICANTLY!!!! WHY???????? Please tell me out there if anyone has a reason to this?????  PLEASE REPLY! It sounds like putting the necessary drivers can HURT YOU (the operating system I mean)!!!! Maybe Windows Vista generic drvier(s) are BETTER?????

    Hi montecarlo1987
Microsoft counts Microsoft Approved things. Most probably that driver is not microsoft approved.

Don't use Vista's Experience Index as a benchmarking tool - it isn't - it's a little bit of marketting fluff that M$ put in to make people buy hardware.  If your performance has deteriorated then worry if Vista WEI says it's worse ignore it!

I wonder if the driver can 'pull' any dedicated RAM away from the basic system?
Maybe one of the Hardware guys will have some insight on that.
