How do I get client computers into this new domain when they fail to connect vie IE?

I am trying to build a new domain. I am having trouble with the conncet computer part of the installation wizard. I have tried two clients so far and neither have been successful. I get the 404 page response on IE. I can ping the DC and can even remote connect to it. I have also tried to join the domain from the computer with "Network path hot found" as the response.

Yes, the default gateway, i think, is Ok. I can get on the internet and cruise around my network.
The IP's are coming from DHCP fro the workstations. The DC has the Ip assigned.

The Workstation was disjoined from the old domain and put into a workgroup. The DNS and Ip's were flushed and released  - didn't help.

First, your network settings on the SBS are not correct.  You must use separate IP Subnets on each of the NICs.  See http://sbsurl.com/twonics for an example of how to configure this.  Or see http://sbsurl.com/msicw for the Microsoft KB article.  Once configured properly, you must run the CEICW -- Configure Email and Internet Connection Wizard.  See http://sbsurl.com/ceicw for the visual how-to.

Then... You have to first remove the workstation from the OLD domain (oyagroup.com) before you can join it to a new domain... you can then only use the connectcomputer wizard with a single Network Connection enabled... so you need to disable the wireless connection.

"The Workstation was disjoined from the old domain and put into a workgroup."

Just FYI... according to the IPCONFIG, it's not been disjoined from the old domain.

Thanks for the direction:
Nothing that I did below has helped the wizard. We have made an improvement though. I can join the domain by changing the properties page on my computer. If I go that way what will it cost me in the future? Here is what I did.

I disabled one of the NIC cards in the SBS server. Ran CEICW again. Actaully I re-installed the server services from the CD. The workstation has been renamed and taken off the old domain.

Here is a ping from the workstation to the server:    I just used "ping woozle" on the cmd line.

If you joined it via the System Properties, then it's been joined... but incorrectly.  You now need to follow the steps outlined in http://sbsurl.com/rejoin to get it joined properly so it can take advantage of all the SBS benefits.

However... because you are using a routable Top Level Domain (.com) instead of the recommended .local for your Internal Active Directory Domain, you may find that you have to add woozle.oyacentral.com to the "Trusted Sites" in the workstation's IE settings.  I would also state that Vaios, by their nature are problematic when joining to SBS Domains.  Be sure that there are NO Vaio utilities running on that machine and there are no other 3rd party firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm.

Good Morning Jeff,
Tried the procedure that you recomended. It didn't make a difference. I'm still not able to use CC from IE. I checked and I can ping Woozle from the laptop. I even added the domain to the trusted sites like you said. I flushed out the IE temp files also.
Thanks for the help,
Paul

Please open IIS Manager > WebSites > Default Website > ConnectComputer.

Right Click for Properties > Directory Security Tab > Secure Communications.

Click Edit... and make sure that "Require secure channel (SSL)" is NOT checked.

Then, if that doesn't help... and you are still getting the 404 error, make sure that the C:\Inetpub\ConnectComputer directory actually exists and there are files in it.

The Virtual Directory for "ConnectComputer" was missing. Adding it made the 404 error go away and the computer was joined to the new domain. This questions answer was worth more than 125 points. Thanks to Jeff from TechSoEasy for all his help.
