Win XP Stop Error: STOP: 0x00000024

Hi! I put my system into hibernation this morning (no programs were open). This evening, I turned it back on but Windows got stuck on the "Resuming Windows..." screen, so I rebooted and selected the "Delete restoration data and continue to boot Windows" option - or whatever it's called.

After that, I keep getting the Stop Error screen. I haven't been able to find much on the net relevant to Windows XP. Any help would be much appreciated.

    From this web page:

    0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step; then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

    1) what's the stop message? can you go into ssafe mode? if not then....
you need to boot of an XP CD and repair the installation (boot off XP let it load and  presss 'r' to repair.
then type in chkdsk /P and reboot
    if this doesn't work then
    do a complete xp repair

    The stop error is:

    STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x86ED16B0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

What is chkdsk's -P parameter? I know of -f and -r. The machine is currently running through a chkdsk -r command... Hopefully that will fix it... I've already tried fixboot and fixmbr. I'll let you know when chkdsk is complete. Thanks!
