We've inherited a Watchguard X500 Firewall that has been running great for months. A week ago, something changed w/o us doing anything and since then we've been unable to have users connect to our vpn. We are definately noobs with this stuff and are learning but have a ways to go.
In the Network Configuration screen of Policy Manager the configuration can be Static, DHCP and PPPoE. Previously we had the system setup to PPPoE with our static Bellsouth external IP as the IP Address. If we do that now, any computers behind the Watchguard are no longer able to get online. If we use Static set to a Westell IP (192.168.1.1) we can all get online, but external VPN users are unable to connect. We've tried creating Aliases for both the westell and bellsouth ips but nothing works. At this point if we have to dump the MUVPN thats fine, if there's an easy way to configure an alternative that will work with the system the way its setup now...
The Westell has NAT disabled and IP Passthrough is currently enabled for 192.168.1.1.
Does anyone know why our firewall and modem won't 'sync'? This combination has been running fine since 2005 then all of a sudden we got booted. The person who setup the system is no longer with the company and Watchguard wants almost $1000 to help us figure this out!
