Terminal Server CAL renewal problem
We have a terminal server that gets its CALS from our main Print/File server. Each client needs a license to be able to logon to the TS. It has been told to look at the Print/File server for relicesning. These licenses should be allocated to clients for set amount of time and then they expire. These whould then go back into the license pool to be reallocated. I have installed 100 licenses which should have been enough but now the total has reached 300 to cover this problem.
Main problem point:
1. Expired licenses don't look like they are being released - why, how to test?
2. if a client logons to TS it gets license assigned from Print/file server, if it re-connects it should pick up the same license but it looks like its grabbing a new one each time - why, how to test?
Thanks everyone.

It turns out this is the fault of a handheld gun from PSION and the software is not up to date. All other 7 handhelds work fine.
I did also contact Microsoft and they were very helpful in applying the CAL licenses again.
As a temporary fix you will need to restart the database by doing the following (this does not effect a live database or session):
*Stop service 'Terminal Server Licensing'
* Renamed c:\windows\system32\LServe r to _old
* Created new folder LServer and started service
then apply the licences - hope this help all
