i am creating a list of records in a script with a select statement and all i want to do is keep the top record and delimit it with fullstops.

so in the script I am getting.

5 3 2
5 3 1
5 2 6
5 2 4
5 2 1

All I want is for
5.3.2 to be sent to the log file %LOG%

i am guessing the easiest way is for the SQL to send the above output to a tempfile. and then to just read the top record in that file and replace spaces with .'s

Any help would be much appreciated.
