Firefox false errors "server not found"

I have a problem with FireFox 2.0.0.0 saying "server not found" 3 out of 4 times I load the browser, nothing I can do but close and load again fixes it.  Every 3-4 loads it works, and will work fine until I close it, sometimes even then I will get the same message.   IE works flawlessly.  I've had this happen before and had to reinstall the OS as I could not find a solution.  I removed all extensions and themes, I wasn't running many anyway.

I instantly get back "Server not found" error when trying to load any page with Firefox.  Reinstalling firefox over itself does not work, in the past uninstalling firefox and reinstalling didn't work either.

9 times out of ten, that is a firewall blocking access, so the questions are...
What OS?
What Firewall(s)?
What security programs are installed?

Hello Mtz10f4,

It definitely is not a firewall issue, for a couple reasons.

1)  I own an Information & Data Security company and very competent with firewalls.
2)  It works 1 out of 3-4 tries, once it works it will work 80% of the time until you close and restart the browser.
3)  I disabled local Anti-Virus to rule it out and its software firewall, problem has not changed.
4)  We do not run windows firewall

Any other suggestions?
OK, then, have you tried Firefox's standard diagnostic?
 http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox for a great troubleshooting page for Firefox.
One more thing, have you looked at your event viewer to see if anything is flagged as warning or error?
Start->Run and type in
eventvwr.msc
and look at Applications and System.
No dice with diag, I already reset all settings using safe mode and even built a new policy.   Still happens.
I don't see any problems in event viewer.
Have you updated to 2.0.0.8, yet?
Yes, that is when it happened.  I believe it worked for a few hours before it went plunk.
OK, are you running through a proxy?  Double check your settings for Firefox connection and compare it to IE's.

In Firefox - Tools->Options->Advanced->Network->Connection
Nope, no proxy.

I did create a new profile, before I said new policy, I mean profile.
Thanks, CharlieBeBop.

Did the new location of the program folder help or did a new profile?
I tried a new profile before, didn't help.
The uninstall and install into new location did it.  Or so far seems to have.
Thanks, the upgrade must not have taken properly.
It definitely seems to be working now...
