Exchange 2003/Active Directory - I cant rename an email address!

I want to rename a email address but when I try a message appears stating that the new name I have chosen already exists.

I am trying to locate where this email address that already exists, is in AD.
I have done a search for all the users in AD with the filter to show email addresses but it does not appear.

I believe that the address is a secondary SMTP address to a users primary one.

How can I search AD to find this secondary SMTP email address?

I am using Exchange 2003 and Win server 2003.
