I previously asked the following question:
How can I tell if a ComboBox selection has been made from the dropdown portion of the CBO - or from the user typing in a correct value?
The user may use the mouse to select from the dropdown portion or possibly use ALT-DownArrow

The answers given were:
If not Isnull(me.combo1) then
     msgbox "item selected"
end if
If nothing is in the combobox, ie. no selection, or an invalid selection, the value will be null:
     Not IsNull(Forms!myForm!myCombo)

The problem is that after various attempts I have no idea where to put this code.

Where can code be used to test for NULL or NOT IS NULL and have it work?  Is the ListIndex property of value in this case?
