Is there an easy way to convert a table to div's. How can I get the div's to follow the same rules with CSS?

Hi, I've just noticed that you had accepted my solution but I had not yet addressed your follow up question as I'm currently in the office. May I ask why I was given a C? There are guidelines to closing questions and and here is some information about grading questions:

It was an answer that did work and I did not get the answer I was looking for. I wanted to give you the points for giving me your time to answer. Sorry if I offended you or anyone in this forum.
Seems like everyone is attacking me from all angles.

Let's say I have a div called left_nav. then I want to stack 6 images all with names of different links to go to.
Do I put each image inside a div and stack them? When I tried this I got spaces inbetween each div. Why?
I used clear:both and float:left; What other ways are there to get this layout to come out as nice?
