I have tried removing and reinstalling and still no solution.   All other 2007 office applications are running fine on my laptop.  Win XP Pro SP2

oK i did all of the above and still no luck.  I did a complete removal and reinstall.  The first time i tried outlook, it immediately asked to start in safe mode.

another note when i go to control panel and click on mail.  It will not open. I shows an hour glass then the hour glass goes away and nothing happens.
roytrue, to double check, creating a new Outlook profile did not fix the problem?
I also have the same issue, on several brand new HP computers.  Fresh out of the box, uninstalled office 2007oem and installed 2007 vlk....totally weird.  Only software installed non-hp is Macafee Enterprise Virus scan.  Did not have issue on Vista laptops that were downgraded to XP only Factory Xp SP2 installs.
See if Windows Desktop Search is installed.  If so remove it.  Ignore any warnings about software installed after WDS.
Wart1's answer was perfect for my problem.  It was a corrupt addin.  I renamed extend.dat and restarted Outlook and the problem was gone!  Thanks so much!
