Do I still need WINS?

I have recently changed my subnetting and overlooked the task of cleaning out the WINS databse which casued all sorts of havoc for a few days.  Now that (I think) I've got that cleaned up, I wonder why I still need WINS?  This is a multiple Server 2003 environment with all XP/Vista Clients.  We run DNS on the two DC's.  Do I need WINS?  Does it play a role in browsing?  (I seem to have some Master browser problems so I'm reluctant to kill it until I get that solved).  What are you with similar environments doing?  Thanks
Dale
