Apple Mail and SBS 2003 after Barracuda install
We have a 20+ PC net using SBS 2003 (w/ all latest service paks) run by an IT pro. We also have a few in-house and remote Macs. Everything worked fine using POP before the Barracuda install. Then the Macs could not contact the outgoing mail server outside the office, incoming works fine. Tried changing the port to 465 and others... no go. SSL is off. Inside the office, the outgoing mail works fine using the numbered IP of the server only, not the name address.
Tried setting up Exchange account in Mail, no go on that either, same issue. tried setting up IMPA account and same problem. Incoming works in both cases. I don't think the Barracuda has anything to do with it but something they did to install that unit has screwed things up for the Macs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Using the SBS email web app is MIGHTY painful compared to Apple Mail with Spamsieve! My IT guy said he didn't know we were using POP/SMTP on the Macs. Is there a way to do true domain authentication in Apple Mail without having to go to Entourage?
