I am working on a rather complex software sructure that we need to port from XP to Vista.
It is a Java app. that is started with a c++ splash screen. The Java app uses a lot of JNI to connect to dll files complied in VC8. The Java app also launces a few exernal exe files (also VC8). All mentioned moduels need administrator rights to run properly.

I need to know what I need to do for my project to run properly under Vista.
Can you for example just edit the desktop shortcut that starts the splash screen, e.g. make it "run as administrator",  and how do you do that?
If this does not help, do all my different modules have to be changed? or would it be enough with the first module that is started and in turn starts the other moduels? What changes do I need to make?

Would really appreciate some help as this at first glance looks like a savage jungle
