Configuring isa2006 for port 2409 - spamfighter

Hi All.

We have started working for a client who has windows server 2000 behind an isa2006 firewall server.

We wish to install spamfighter exchange on the exhange server but it requires port 2409 UDP to be configured and we are not that experienced with ISA2006.

Can any one please give us a step by step guide of how to confgure ISA2006 for this task.

Thank you
Andy

Hi,

Open your isa server management console , right click on firewall policy select new/non web server protocol publishing rule...  on first screen give a name , second screen type ip address of your exchange server , on next screen (select protocol) click on new , give a name to protocol (ex. spamfighter) , on next screen click on new again , select protocol type as udp , do not change  direction  , type port range both on from and to as 2409.Click on next 2 times and click finish. On main screen click next again. Select external on network listener IP Address window then click next and finish. You shoud also click on apply button to activate the rule.

ASKER

hi thank you.

I did that - when I got to type port range as 2409 and 2409 - i clicked OK and got the error message:
THE NEW PROTOCOL IS OUTBOUND. ONLY INBOUND PROTOCOLS CAN BE PUBLISHED.

Relating to this question, we are considering opening up port 2409 to allow Spamfighter to work on the client side but does this not expose expose the servers by opening up this port? Thanks.

Hardware Firewalls

Hardware-based firewalls provide more sophisticated protection for inbound and outbound traffic than the simple Windows software firewall or the basic NAT firewalls found in routers. These devices implement techniques such as stateful packet inspection, deep packet inspection, and content filtering; and may include built-in antivirus and anti-malware protection.
