Run-time options using DLLs?

Hi Experts
I want to have a program where the data (image processing) can be analysed by a series of optional routines, from certain access points in my main program.
I would therefore have (say) 5 points in the program that would each call a procedure of a fixed name (e.g. hook1, hook2, etc)
I then select one of a set of DLLs, which would be loaded containing the code.
The DLLs would need to access global data from the main program, including parameter arrays and a large bitmap containing the image data.  It also needs to be quite fast.
The DLLs (or whatever contain the optional code) would only contain code and no forms or components.
Does all this sound possible ?  What would be the optimum way to do it ?
Thanks
