How to do a hard drive upgrade.. server 2003
I have a 2 partitioned mirrored 120GB drives on our server... PDC, DHCP, DNS, TS, FS are all served on this box... So... the less I have to change the better... I would like to upgrade to mirrored 400GB drives....
How do I do it for free?

Can also be done with 2003's disk management utility. Depending upon how your existing configuration is configured, converting disks to dynamic and adding mirroring from there might accomplish what you are trying to do. A word of caution, make sure you know what you are doing and test this somewhere before you do this on your production server. After you convert to dynamic disks you cannot undo this!
As Rindi said above, you should know the raid controller has option to expand or not, if it has, then there you go, FREE.

"rindi:
Checkout if your raid controller supports expanding arrays. If it does, replace one of the disks with the new one, then wait until it has synchronized with the old disk . Now replace the other disk and again wait until the synchronization has finished. Now go into the raid controller's utility and use it's functions to expand the array to the full 400GB capacity."
How do I know if my controllor has "expand" ability? Does the function go by different names?

What is your raod controller card make / model?
You check the manual of the raid controller. It's possible the manufacturers give it different names.

It has dual RAID
VIA VT8237 South Bridge & Promise 20378
VIA VT8237 South Bridge & Promise 20378
Are these controllers built into the mainboard? Often those controllers don't have as good features as a separate raid controller. Check the manual of your board, or post the make and model of the board here.

Now you will have the extra space visible in diskmanagement. You can add new partitions for that space or whatever you prefer doing with it. You could also use a utility like bootit-ng to enlarge your current partitions.
