You need to modify the Header and Footer Styles.
In your document, go to your Header and modify it to what you want the Default Header Style to be.
Select the entire Header.
Go to the Home Ribbon.
Expand the Styles Task Pane by clicking the arrow/box icon in the lower-right corner of the Styles Task Pane.
Header will be selected in the Styles dialog bix.
Move your mouse cursor over the word Header and you will see a dropdown box.
Click the Drop Down and select Update Header to Match Selection.
NOTE: This changes the Header style for this document. If you want this style for all documents based on this template:
Move your mouse cursor over the word Header and you will see a dropdown box.
Click the Drop Down and select Modify.
Select New Documents based on this template and Automatically update.
Repeat this with the Footer style.

Dear geneus:
Thank you so much for your kind tip.
By the way, for some reason, I could not finish up your tips: "Move your mouse cursor over the word Header and you will see a dropdown box.
Click the Drop Down and select Modify."
I am using MS Word 2007, and I don't see "Modify". Did you mean "Edit"?
Thanks!

I need to check when I get back to work but Edit should get you to the same place.

- Now you can change the fonts, font sizes, text, etc in the header or footer just as you do in the main document.
Good Luck!
