I recently bought a jvc everio gz-mg555u hard disk camcorder from the US to use in the UK. I also use adobe premier elements 5.0 to edit, convert and create UK DVD's and MPEG video to watch on my home media centre attached to my widescreen TV in the lounge. The problem is the .mod files (jvc proprietry video files) are recognised by premier elements 5.0 no problem but the video quality is terrible. It's nowhere near as good as my old tape based sony handycam.
Have I made a mistake buying a NTSC based camcorder on the cheap from the US? or is just the settings in my editing software that are incorrect. Anyone got some good ideas? I'm hoping I've just wasted £400 !
