How to assign Canon Camera a Drive Letter
Hi.  I need to assign my Canon PowerShot A40 a drive letter in order to undelete a picture that I just deleted off the camera by accident.  I have not taken any pictures since making the mistake, and I have a full copy of "Recover My Photos" to use, but the program requires me to assign the A40 a drive letter and I do not know how to do it.

I would greatly appreciate getting an answer to this problem.  Thanks!

Depending on the driver, some cameras appear as standard removable drive and some don't.

For recovery work, I allways use a card reader. That way you are guaranteed to get access to the card as removable storage drive  (that is, it will show up as a drive in My Computer).

Card readers are dirt-cheap these days and as an added bonus they often download your photos faster than the camera.

ASKER

Thanks!  But is there any way to assign a drive letter to the camera?  One is not given by default,  It just says Canon Camera under My Computer.

Thanks.  I think that is the best that can be done with this camera.

Microsoft Windows XP is the sixth release of the NT series of operating systems, and was the first to be marketed in a variety of editions: XP Home and XP Professional, designed for business and power users. The advanced features in XP Professional are generally disabled in Home Edition, but are there and can be activated. There were two 64-bit editions, an embedded edition and a tablet edition.
