Unable to setup firewall and proxy monitoring logs on SQL 2005 server
Hi all.
I am having a bit of a problem setting up logging from my ISA 2006 server to a SQL 2005 server. When I setup the monitoring to the SQL server in ISA and click test all works fine. As soon as I apply the settings I get the error:
Log Failure: The Microsoft Firewall was unable to connect to the sql database. The failure is due to error: 0x80040e4d
The SQL server resides on the same server as the ISA server and im not sure if this is what the problem is?? This error totally shuts down my firewall service and won't let it restart until I turn logging back the way it was. I have created all the tables and fields with the script provided with ISA 2006.
any ideas?

It's on the same box as the ISA server. I installed SQL 2005 Enterprise. Im thinking it's some kind of rights issue but I am logging in with SA.

Haha I feel silly thats what it was. I created a new user and gave it right to the ISA db and it came right up :/
Thanks

Thanks for the points - would have been interested to know what I had to do to get the 'A' grade from you?
Question to resolution in 12 minutes is not a record but is not bad either.... :)

Call it an early Christmas present :)
I got one question though. On the SQL desktop version that ISA logs to can you connect odbc to run reports off of it? What i would like to do is have a webpage that is sortable etc that looks info out of that db. Is this possible?

ISA installs a security control. Edit the ISA system policy and edit/enable the sys policy rule to allow reporting/logging/control to other boxes
might be useful as well
