I have an Everex VA250E running Vista Home Basic. Bought in May, it has been stable but extremely slow. It has 512Mb RAM. Everex claim that this machine is equivalent to the VA4101M for RAM purposes. The Everex price for RAM upgrade was more than $250 for two 1Gb memory sticks. I chose to buy the upgrade from Crucial (for the VA4101M) for $80. I have installed the memory and now the machine is unstable. It crashes frequently-- just restarting without reporting any error conditions. I have been running MemTest86 v1.70 for the last 11 hours. Memtest86 has completed 4 passes without reporting an error. The VA4101M uses the Celeron chip while the VA250E uses a VIA CPU. No doubt their motherboards are different. Is it likely that the problem is stemming from an incompatibility with the Crucial RAM?
