How do I create a ribbon flowing in air in Adobe InDesign

I am creating an invitation and would like to create a ribbon that will run through stars at the top of my invitation. I have the stars completed however, I am  having trouble with the ribbon. Can you help? It would look like a ribbon floating through the air. I am using Adobe InDesign, would Adobe Illustrator work better, I have that as well but have only tried designing the ribbon in InDesign. Thanks so much.

Adobe Illustrator would definitely work better to create the ribbon. You can create it in Illustrator and then copy/paste it right into InDesign, or import/place it as an object.

If you really wanted to do it in InDesign, your best bet would probably be the path tool; create a line with your pencil tool and then edit that with specific points created with your path tool.  If you're really good at freehand drawing, you could use the pencil tool to draw your ribbon freehand.

Another option (and I may get nailed for this  here!) would be to find the image of the ribbon you want somewhere online, like on a clipart web site, then download/purchase that image, and import it into Illustrator or Indesign and change the properties of it (color, shape, etc.) to make it match what you're wanting.

hope that helps!
