I want to present the user an ajax progress animatin whilst I loop through a datareader.  The code is like this...................................
  private void RunSend()
        IDataReader thisReader = null;
            thisReader = doSearch();

                int count = 0;
                while (thisReader.Read())
                    EmailMessage message = new EmailMessage();
                    message.ID = Guid.NewGuid();
etc etc.........................

Now this can run for up to 20,000 rows so I want to use the updateprogress control to inform the user.  How can I do this?  I have seen examples of using the ajax updateprogress control but need an example I can use with the datareader
